Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy Update

May 7, 2024

DVRPC staff have refined the draft goals and strategies for the Fiscal Year 2024 Growing Greater Philadelphia CEDS. These will serve as the foundation of the regional economic development framework. The public can provide comments on the refined goals and strategies through June 24, 2024.

The Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) is the federally mandated, regionally owned planning process designed to build capacity and guide the economic prosperity and resiliency of Greater Philadelphia. Regions must update their strategy at least every five years to qualify for U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA) financial assistance.

Feedback Opportunities

Earlier this year, the public had the opportunity to comment on draft goals and actions for the Fiscal Year 2024 Growing Greater Philadelphia CEDS. Based on the feedback received, DVRPC staff have refined the draft goals and strategies. These will serve as the foundation of the regional economic development framework. General comments on the refined goals and strategies can be sent directly to kpcilurso@dvrpc.org through June 24, 2024.

EDA encourages that the CEDS identify regional projects, programs, and activities designed to implement the goals of the CEDS. Potential projects should address the greatest needs for the region’s businesses and residents and/or will increase the region’s overall economic competitiveness upon completion. Stakeholders are invited to submit project ideas through June 24, 2024. The final list of projects will be reviewed for inclusion in the 2024 CEDS update.

Staff recently completed the background analysis, regional assessment, and trends analysis. These can be viewed at https://www.dvrpc.org/economic/ceds/. If you have questions, contact Karen Cilurso at kpcilurso@dvrpc.org.
