Get to know Traffic Data Analyst Leea Kelly.

What did you want to be growing up? I rotated through just about every creative career path, but when I was very young my top choices were ballerina and fashion designer. Now I laugh at the idea of doing ballet in any capacity, but I am still very involved with making clothing and jewelry.

What was your first job? A hostess at a TGI Fridays in a mall. Can’t say I recommend it.

How did you end up at DVRPC? I joined Hopeworks in Camden, and my career coach suggested I try out for this after I fell in love with GIS.

What are your responsibilities? What has changed over time? I was hired to process and input traffic counts. I still do that, but I have also taken over a lot of the survey work in Travel Monitoring along with some social club and employee council responsibilities.

What is your favorite part of working at DVRPC? The benefits are certainly a big draw, but I love how welcoming so many people here have been to me. Shout out to Dan Snyder for telling me about the DVRPC lunch table!

What is something colleagues don’t know about you? I am an amateur silversmith.

Who is someone you’d like to meet? I would love to meet Danny Devito. He just seems like a nice guy who I’m sure has a million stories to tell.

What actor would play you in the movie version of your life? Would it be bad for me to say Devito again?

What is your favorite leisure activity? I love to cook for my friends. A potluck with some good music is a slice of heaven in my opinion.

What is your recent obsession? The warm weather has been leading me to do a lot of research on growing herbs and other edible plants. Living in South Philadelphia doesn’t leave me with a lot of options, but I have been working to maximize my space. If you’ve had success with growing any fruits or vegetables in the city please let me know!

Are you a cat or dog person? I love both but definitely a cat person. Yes, I will gladly show you pictures of mine if you ask, but if you were here during our Halloween cork board you may have noticed a very cute hot dog.

What is a recent gift you’ve given or received? My partner gave me an old fashioned pasta roller for Christmas, and I have been having a blast with it.

What are you looking forward to the most in the next year? I just moved into a beautiful house, and I am looking forward to new memories and experiences in my new home.
