The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has asked DVRPC to collect community input on potential use cases for publicly funded electric vehicle charging stations, commonly referred to as electric vehicle service equipment (EVSE). Residents are asked to identify locations or communities in southeastern Pennsylvania where they would like to see publicly available EVSE. These locations could be along transportation routes, in specific neighborhoods or commercial districts, or other locations.
This outreach will help planners identify and prioritize EVSE use cases and locations if or when funding becomes available or when state, local, or county governments invest in publicly accessible EVSE.
PennDOT has submitted a Community Charging Phase Plan for the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) program to the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). Should that plan be approved, your input will help PennDOT prioritize how those funds will be spent in the suburban Pennsylvania counties in the DVRPC region.
