In accordance with the Fixing America's Surface Transportation Act (FAST), DVRPC evaluates multimodal access to tourist destinations in Greater Philadelphia. The tourism and hospitality industry represents a vital part of the region's economy. Each dollar spent by travelers generates additional expenditures in indirect spending and is indirectly responsible for the creation of numerous additional jobs, as illustrated in Hospitality & Tourism Data Snapshot [3.82 MB pdf]. The region's tourist attractions are generally well served by the existing transportation network, and numerous improvements in recent years have enhanced the ability of tourists to access these destinations.

Destination Delaware Valley

As a part of DVRPC’s ongoing commitment to enhance travel and tourism, Destination: Delaware Valley - A Regional Visit Shed Analysis for Tourist Destinations in Greater Philadelphia, utilized anonymous mobile user data to map a visit shed for 30 area attractions in the region’s suburban counties. The individual site analyses are compiled together by county and highlights each county’s visit shed, transportation context, and other key data and information.
